I started playing girls hockey 4 years ago, which is when the girls hockey program started in Marshall. I went from 12 and under to 15 and under to 19 and under to varsity.
Our 12 and under and 15 and under year were starting years and we struggled through the season's, but had fun.
In our 19 and under year (which was just last season) things started to turn around, instead of losing 95% of our games, we were winning 95% of our games.
It was such a memorable season and we had the most fun!

Even though this season wining wise was worse than last year, I would have to saw that this year has been the best of all. This season was the inaugural season as a Marshall Tiger Girls Hockey Team.
Even though we didn't win many games at all this season, it was great just to be a high school sport.
Until this season people inexperienced in the coaching business have coached us.
This season we were fortunate enough to have an experienced coach. Again we didn't win many games this season, but that doesn't mean we have a bad coach; it just means we have a young and inexperienced team.
We have had many new people join our team, which means we were adjusting to each other and trying to teach people at the same time.
It was difficult, but some one had to do it and I am glad I was apart of it.
I enjoy playing hockey very much and my love for the game is what has kept me playing. It has been very difficult through these few years to be accepted as a girls hockey team.
We have been made fun of, put down, and told we weren't good enough. That is just a part of being part of something new and quite frankly, I don't mind it any more.
I get to be part of history in Marshall and I also get to be a role model for younger girls. I have nothing to complain about and now I can look back at all the people who gave us a hard time
about playing girls hockey and smile, because I know how very privileged I am to be apart of the Marshall Tiger Girls High School Hockey Team.
Piano and Flute
I have played the piano for about 6 years and the flute for about 5 years. I really enjoy playing both of them, because I really enjoy music.
My freshmen and sophomore years of high school, I have been in the marching band, but not playing flute. I have played in the pit or along the sidelines
on the bells, marimba, concert bass drum, etc. The reason I decided to play in the pit, is because Mr.Ivers wasn't going to take
any new flute players into the marching band my freshmen year, but I wanted to be in the marching band. Since I played piano and flute (both
"C" instruments if you know what I mean) I knew I would be able to learn how to play the bells etc. easily. Which I did and I had a great time in
Marching band that year, it was so much fun! The reason I was in the pit this year was because last year, most of the people in the pit were seniors, and there were only a
few freshmen were trying out. Out of the goodness of my heart I played in the pit again and was section leader just because I new Mr. Ivers could use me. Also, I figured
I would have a good time any way so what if I had to wait another year to march with my flute. Which means this coming school year I will hopefully be
Marching in the marching band with my flute.
Through the years I have played piano, I have played in many small recitals and competitions.
Last year and this year I have played piano in the jazz band. I really enjoy doing this. It gives me a chance to
use my piano playing ability in school, because you know flutes are not jazz instruments.
Softball
I have played softball for 6 years through park and rec. I really enjoy playing the game.
The last 2 years I didn't play softball because I took a couple of baby-sitting jobs in stead.
I was very thrilled when I herd that the high school was starting a girls softball team, I immediately joined.
This is a new team, but practices have been going well. We haven't had our first game yet. It was supposed to be
on Saturday, April 15, but it was canceled due to weather. The game is supposed to be rescheduled for
April 17, Monday. I am again on a first year team this year and I know kind of what to expect. We won't win very many
games, but we will improve throughout the season and have a good time playing it.
Friends
I feel I have many friends and whenever I am with them I have a good time. Being with friends may
sound like a weird hobby, but it is something I enjoy to do is to be with my friends.
Having friends makes me feel like will always have some one to talk to and to count on.
Friends are the greatest thing any one could ever have and I don't know what I would do with out them.
